Broadcom is one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of software and hardware solutions for data transfer. It was founded in 1992 as a manufacturer of chips for modems, switches, access points, set-top boxes, laptops, tablets and smartphones. It has expanded rapidly and increased its sales turnover from chips for network switches used in the data centers of large enterprises, while smaller companies were actively buying up Broadcom to enter new markets. In 2015, Singapore-based Avago Technologies holding bought Broadcom for $ 75 billion . The new company, called Broadcom Limited, became the seventh largest semiconductor manufacturer with an annual turnover of about $ 15 billion.
