AutoZone Inc is the largest auto parts and accessories retailer in the United States. It was opened in 1979 as an Auto Shack grocery store, later renamed AutoZone. By 1984, AutoZone was the first auto parts retailer with its own quality control program. In 1989, for the first time, the company used a computerized store management system (SMS) .Motor lines were also produced, a chain of stores was distributed in most states. In 1991, the company became public, and stocks began trading on the NYSE under the symbol AZO. In 1999 AutoZone entered the Mexican market and became part of the Fortune 500. AutoZone opened its stores in Brazil in 2012. By 2018, the company is the largest seller of auto parts in North America.
