Eversource Energy is an American public energy holding, with several regulated subsidiaries offering retail electricity, natural gas and water to approximately 4 million customers.

The history of the company began in 1966, with the founding of Northeast Utilities, a diversified utility holding company with a long history of mergers and the purchase of competitors.

Prior to its rebranding in 2015, the company had six major subsidiaries: CL & P, PSNH, WMECO, Yankee Gas Services Company, NSTAR Electric and NSTAR Gas. After rebranding, they all renamed themselves Eversource Energy. The company actively supports the development of electric vehicles, and it has also switched most of its energy source from coal to natural gas, wind energy, hydroelectricity and solar energy. In June 2017, Eversource merged with Aquarion Water Company in the amount of $ 1.675 billion, becoming the first US electricity company to own a water utility.
